I guess it's only an issue for those like me who have an HTPC as their main source in a cinema room and who find that displaying a file name distracts from the experience of watching the movie yet appreciate the ability to display some important info during playback. That way, we could disable OSD by default so that the file name isn't displayed when playback starts, and enable OSD when we want to see some info like playback/remaining time. I'm wondering if it would be easier/possible to get a shortcut for enabling/disabling OSD instead? Maybe that would benefit more users? I've asked a few times if we could have an option to not show the file name when playback starts and OSD is enabled, but it didn't happen.
